Selaković: Very important visit to Belgium for the continuation of Serbian integrations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, during the official visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, met today in Brussels with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Cultural Institutions of Belgium, Sophie Wilmes and President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Federal Parliament Eliane Tillieaux.

Minister Selaković stated after the meeting that his first bilateral visit to Belgium was of special importance given the fact that this year the two countries celebrate the 135th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

He said that at the meeting with Minister Wilmes complete relations of Serbia and Belgium had been discussed and the continuation of communication with regards to the European integrations of Serbia had been agreed.

“This was the opportunity to introduce Minister Wilmes with the activities of Serbia on the fulfillment of the criteria and conditions on our European path and to ask for more understanding and better valuation of the results we achieve in this process”, emphasized Minister Selaković.

The Serbian Foreign Minister mentioned this is the first visit of a Serbian Foreign Minister to Belgium after eight years adding that in the conversation with Minister Wilmes he had been promised that in the following period she would visit Serbia.

Minister Selaković and Minister Wilmes, after the meeting, signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation of the two ministries.

The Minister said that he also had a very successful and productive meeting with the President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Federal Parliament, Eliane Tillieaux, with whom he discussed the relations and cooperation of the two countries and discussed the European path of Serbia.
