Selaković: Serbia and Mexico dedicated to same values

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, has initiated this evening the official visit to Mexico with the meeting with the President of the Mexican Senate Olga Sanchez Cordero.

Selaković stated that it was a great honor for him to have the opportunity to participate in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mexico independence and other important jubilees this country celebrated this year.

Minister Selaković thanked his interlocutor for her personal contribution to building of the relations of Mexico and Serbia and recent ratification of the Agreement on educational, cultural and sports cooperation, which had been adopted unanimously earlier at the Serbian Assembly, expressing his confidence that such fact would contribute to strengthening of our relations in these fields.

The Serbian Foreign Minister said that both countries were committed to same values, observance of the international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as the right of every country to choose its path of development autonomously.

According to his words, Serbia is strategically committed to the EU membership, but, since the time when Belgrade was the place of birth of the Non-Allied Movement 60 years ago, great attention is given to the connections with Latin American countries.

“Serbia is the only heir of former Yugoslavia which has the Embassy in Mexico City, but we want our mission in your country to be additionally developed and improved”, said Selaković.

The Minister introduced his interlocutor to economic reforms which were initiated by President Vučić in due time, which resulted in the Serbian economy being the fastest growing in Europe today.

This year we would have at least 6.5 percent of GDP growth and we have created the best investment environment in the region, Selaković says adding that year after year Serbia becomes stronger also in the field of IT industry so it is prepared to share experiences with all friendly countries all around the world.

“We have so many unused potentials for cooperation, we are proud of the history of our relations but today we are creating something which will be history in 20 or 30 years and what our descendants can be proud off”, said Selaković and invited the President of the Mexican Senate to official visit to Serbia.
