Minister Đurić hosts Harvard postgraduates
Extending a warm welcome at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Đurić expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to meet and engage in discussion with a group of 50 postgraduates from one of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions.
Minister Đurić briefed the guests on Serbia’s key foreign policy priorities and shared an overview of the country’s economic achievements over the past decade. He also reflected on recent developments in Serbian society over the past six months.
He noted that a new Government of Serbia was formed just a month ago, which, as he emphasized, will bring renewed momentum to reforms and further national development.
Addressing the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Đurić explained that it remains Serbia’s most fundamental question and simultaneously the most complex challenge. He outlined the status of the EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stressing that while Belgrade remains firmly committed to dialogue and compromise, Pristina continues to obstruct the process and refuses to implement previously agreed commitments.
Minister Đurić placed particular emphasis on Serbia’s economic progress, highlighting that the country has more than doubled its GDP over the past decade and is among the few countries to have achieved consistent annual growth of around 4 percent. He noted that Serbia has attracted 65 percent of all foreign direct investment in the region, which has significantly contributed to reducing unemployment.
He also underlined Serbia’s commitment to preserving its cultural identity and language, as well as to advancing demographic policies.
In the concluding part of the visit, following his remarks, Minister Đurić responded to a wide range of questions posed by the students.
