Minister Đurić confers with Secretary General of the Organization of American States

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramchand Ramdin, during the 55th Session of the General Assembly of this regional organization, held in Antigua and Barbuda.

Minister Đurić emphasized that Serbia attaches immense importance to developing cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and that Serbia’s presence at this gathering reaffirms its commitment to building stronger ties with the region. He expressed gratitude to the Secretary General for the support that the OAS extends to Serbia in its capacity as an observer state, underscoring that Serbia considers the OAS a forum of sincere and dependable partners.

The Serbian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of Serbia’s active participation in multilateral forums, particularly those that promote dialogue and respect for international law. He reiterated Serbia’s openness to cooperation in the fields of education, cultural exchange, and the strengthening of institutional ties.

Minister Đurić also extended an invitation to all OAS member states that have not yet done so to participate in the specialized international exhibition Expo 2027 in Belgrade. He noted that the event represents a valuable opportunity to further connect Serbia with the Latin American and Caribbean region, not only in the area of culture, but also in terms of investment and technological cooperation.

The two interlocutors agreed that there is scope for more concrete forms of cooperation in the period ahead, and Minister Đurić expressed his expectation that the dialogue between Serbia and the OAS would continue through regular contacts and participation in upcoming forums.
