The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met in Jerusalem with the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, to discuss the traditional friendship between the Serbian and Jewish peoples, regional issues, and the launch of a strategic dialogue as a modality for further strengthening inter-state cooperation.

In a cordial atmosphere during the meeting in Jerusalem, it was noted that, alongside the traditionally strong ties between the two states and peoples, this visit and the strategic dialogue mark the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations between Serbia and Israel.

Recalling President Herzog’s visit to Serbia in September 2024, as well as his recent meeting with President Aleksandar Vučić on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the interlocutors agreed that intensive political dialogue provides a solid foundation for strengthening bilateral relations.

On this occasion, President Herzog conveyed his greetings to the President of the Republic of Serbia and extended an invitation to President Vučić to visit Israel.

Satisfaction was expressed with the launch of a strategic dialogue in the fields of economy, artificial intelligence, education, and technology, which will bring tangible benefits to the citizens of both countries. Referring to the similar experiences and suffering endured by the Serbian and Jewish peoples throughout history, Minister Đurić particularly emphasized the importance of preserving the culture of remembrance as a key element.

The head of Serbian diplomacy informed President Herzog about the difficult position of Serbs, the unilateral actions of Pristina, and the institutional violence to which the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija are exposed on a daily basis, as well as the failure of the Pristina authorities to fulfill obligations envisaged under the Brussels Agreement. Đurić stressed that Serbia remains committed to constructive dialogue and respect for international law.

The interlocutors also discussed regional issues, Serbia’s European path, as well as key topics on the international stage.
