The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, stated today in Jerusalem that, following yesterday’s meetings, relations between Serbia and Israel have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership, thereby further strengthening mutual trust between the two countries.

Minister Đurić noted that during his stay in Jerusalem he met with the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, whom he briefed on the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as on their struggle against discrimination and for a dignified life.

He emphasized that there is considerable scope for further enhancing cooperation, including within the framework of the Serbia–Israel–United States triangle.

He conveyed that President Herzog extended his greetings to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and invited him to visit Israel, adding that Serbia and its President enjoy a high reputation in that country, both due to the contemporary level of mutual understanding and the historical ties and solidarity between the Serbian and Jewish peoples.

The Serbian Foreign Minister underlined that the visit was highly successful and that the Serbian delegation was received by the highest Israeli officials, including the President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of the parliament.

Đurić further announced that later today in Jerusalem the Serbian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce will be established, bringing together companies successfully operating in both countries, which represents an important step in strengthening economic ties.

He pointed to the importance of Israel as a key partner of Serbia also in a broader international context and added that during the visit he sought to highlight the historical closeness of the two peoples, stressing that the Serbian delegation felt respected and warmly welcomed in Israel.

Speaking about his visit to areas affected by rocket attacks, Đurić described it as a deeply moving experience, noting that he spoke with the families of victims and expressed his personal solidarity.

“No one, anywhere in the world, regardless of any political justifications, should be subjected to such a fate,” Minister Đurić emphasized. He recalled that Serbia has its own experience of war and suffering, which is why it particularly understands the importance of peace, underscoring that Serbia consistently advocates for its preservation.
