Đurić: Strategic dialogue with Israel opens new opportunities for the advancement of relations

On the first day of his visit to Israel, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, stated that today marks a historic moment for Serbian-Israeli relations, as the two countries have launched a strategic dialogue representing an important step towards the comprehensive enhancement of bilateral ties and the deepening of partnership across numerous fields.

Minister Đurić emphasized that this format of cooperation is of multifaceted importance for Serbia, particularly given that Israel is among the most technologically and economically advanced countries, with a strong international standing and well-developed relations worldwide.

He added that the discussions addressed concrete modalities for further strengthening ties, including in the economic sphere, where efforts are underway to conclude a free trade agreement, which, as he noted, constitutes an additional step forward compared to previous high-level engagements.

Đurić conveyed that talks with Israeli officials covered a wide range of topics, including the current situation in the Middle East, and reaffirmed the historic friendship between the two nations, which dates back centuries.

He underlined that the present-day partnership is grounded in mutual interests and can contribute to further strengthening Serbia’s international position, as well as to the development of its scientific and technological capacities and defence industry.

He particularly stressed that the presence of modern Israeli systems within the Serbian Armed Forces attests to the high level of mutual trust.

According to him, Serbia has a reliable partner in Israel, and the reputation of the Serbian state and its leadership enjoys considerable respect, further reinforcing the foundations of future cooperation.

“I must say that the name of the President of Serbia is spoken here with great respect, and that the name of the Serbian people and the Serbian state is mentioned with affection and respect, which is why today it is an honour to represent Serbia,” Minister Đurić concluded.
