Đurić confers with the President of the UN Security Council and Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya

Following the session on the work of UNMIK, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met with the President of the United Nations Security Council and Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya.

During their discussion on the recently concluded Security Council session, Minister Đurić emphasized that the continued consideration of the issue of Kosovo and Metohija within this body is of essential importance for Serbia, as it provides a comprehensive overview of the situation on the ground and keeps the international community informed about the political and security circumstances. He expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its understanding and consistent support on this matter.

Minister Đurić reiterated that the situation in Kosovo and Metohija remains highly unstable and sensitive, marked by numerous incidents. He underscored Belgrade’s clear and unwavering position that dialogue is the only path toward achieving a sustainable solution for Kosovo and Metohija, while stressing that the continuation of dialogue requires Pristina to fulfill its obligations under the Brussels Agreement, with the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities as a priority.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the current situation in the region, with Minister Đurić reaffirming that Serbia remains firmly committed to preserving peace and stability, both in its southern province and throughout the region.
