The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today in Jerusalem with the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, to discuss the advancement of bilateral relations, the launch of a strategic dialogue, the further deepening of economic cooperation, as well as current global issues.

During the meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, held following the inaugural session of the strategic dialogue between Serbia and Israel, the interlocutors also addressed the importance of establishing this dialogue as a historic step forward and a strong signal of the strengthening ties between the two countries.

The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized that relations between Serbia and Israel are characterized by traditional friendship and mutual understanding, grounded in the historical closeness of the Serbian and Jewish peoples. He recalled that the Serbian people have, throughout difficult periods in history, consistently stood in solidarity with the Jewish people, and noted that the Jewish community in Serbia today enjoys full respect—further reinforcing mutual trust and providing a solid foundation for the strong relations between the two countries.

Particular attention was devoted to economic cooperation, with it being noted that Israel, as a robust and highly developed economy, holds significant investment potential, while Serbia, as highlighted by Đurić, with its stable economic growth, offers a favorable environment and considerable opportunities for attracting further foreign investment.

He also welcomed the confirmation of Israel’s participation in the specialized international exhibition Expo 2027 in Belgrade, assessing it as yet another indication of the strong commitment to further strengthening overall relations and deepening economic cooperation.
