Đurić confers with Algerian Foreign Minister in Kampala

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today in Kampala, on the margins of the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Ahmed Attaf.

Minister Đurić emphasized that Serbia and Algeria are bound by traditional friendship and decades-long cooperation, which constitute a solid foundation for the further advancement of bilateral relations. He noted that Serbia and Algeria are genuinely committed to developing their mutual cooperation.

The Serbian Foreign Minister particularly underlined that Serbia highly values Algeria’s support for its positions on the most important national issues.

Đurić recalled that the visit of the Algerian Foreign Minister to Belgrade in 2023 provided a strong impetus to bilateral relations and reaffirmed the mutual commitment to further intensify political dialogue and cooperation.

He pointed out that Serbia remains interested in further strengthening economic and political relations with Algeria and African countries as a whole, with which it shares long-standing friendship within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Minister Đurić conveyed to his Algerian counterpart that Serbia warmly welcomes Algeria’s participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade, expressing confidence that Algeria’s pavilion will attract great attention and assuring that Serbia will make every effort to be an excellent host.

Minister Attaf extended an invitation to Minister Đurić to visit Algeria in the near future and thereby personally contribute to the further strengthening of political dialogue and the overall cooperation between the two countries.
