The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, held today, on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly, a series of bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from many different world countries.

Minister Selaković had a very tight schedule and met with more than 20 heads of diplomacy and had a productive discussion with the special representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, H.E. Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos.

Concrete initiatives concerning bilateral cooperation were launched and several agreements were signed with several foreign ministers, specifically on cooperation in agriculture with Cabo Verde, on legal assistance in civil matters and air traffic with Brazil, as well as on the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports with Tajikistan.

An inevitable topic in all discussions was the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, and participants listened with great attention to the arguments given by Minister Selaković regarding the international legal foundations on which Serbia bases the defence of its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

As in the previous days, one of the main topics in today’s discussions with the heads of diplomacy was the present situation in the world, especially the crisis in the supply of food and energy, and Minister Selaković shared his experiences in facing these challenges.

Minister Selaković's also met today was the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Samoa, Ms Fiama Naomi Mata'afa, a high-ranking official of a country with which Serbia does not yet have diplomatic relations, and who expressed interest in establishing cooperation with our country.

Selaković was also invited to participate in a working lunch within the framework of the Central European Initiative, which was attended by several ministers of foreign affairs.
