Meeting between Nevena Jovanović and the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Republic of Serbia
Particular attention was devoted to the fact that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Representation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Republic of Serbia, a significant milestone in their long-standing and successful cooperation.
Jovanović expressed her appreciation for the engagement to date and for the substantial contribution made by UNHCR in the field of protection of refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable categories of the population.
It was underscored that the Republic of Serbia attaches great importance to the United Nations system and multilateralism as key pillars for the preservation of international peace, security, and cooperation, and that it remains firmly committed to supporting the work of UNHCR, as well as its integrity and independent functioning within the UN system.
The interlocutors expressed confidence that the constructive and substantive cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and UNHCR will continue in the period ahead, to the mutual benefit and in the interest of enhancing the protection of refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups.
