Kozarev confers with Slovenian Ambassador Šešum

05. Dec 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Serbia, Slobodan Šešum, for discussions on bilateral relations and current geopolitical developments.

Extending words of welcome, Kozarev wished the ambassador a successful mandate in Serbia and expressed confidence that joint efforts would further strengthen the ties between Serbia and Slovenia.

Reflecting on Serbia’s foreign policy priorities, Kozarev underlined accession to the European Union as the strategic objective of Serbia’s foreign policy. He also emphasized Serbia’s commitment to fostering good-neighbourly relations and resolving all outstanding issues through dialogue, with the aim of ensuring a stable and prosperous region for the benefit of all citizens.

The Secretary-General briefed the ambassador on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the increasingly troubling actions of Kurti’s administration, and the recent obstruction of the Serbian List’s participation in elections—yet another continuation of violations of the fundamental human rights of Serbs in Serbia’s southern province.

Kozarev and Šešum also touched upon the topic of negotiations on the succession of the assets of the former Yugoslavia, noting that the process is proceeding in a positive and constructive atmosphere.

The interlocutors highlighted the upward trajectory of economic relations between Serbia and Slovenia, with particular emphasis on the field of investments, which continues to develop successfully in both directions.

Today’s meeting also provided an opportunity to review cooperation between the two ministries, and in the spirit of fostering strong ties, the two sides agreed to establish closer networking between their diplomatic archives.

Kozarev conveyed to Ambassador Šešum the expectation that Slovenia will join the many countries that have already confirmed their participation in the World Expo 2027, to be hosted by Belgrade.
