The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Serbia, Pavel Orensia Díaz Hernández, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as key regional and global issues.

The interlocutors noted the longstanding and traditional friendship between Serbia and Cuba, which spans more than 120 years.

Both sides expressed their shared conviction regarding the importance of diplomatic dialogue and the peaceful resolution of global and regional conflicts.

Addressing current global developments, Ambassador Hernández recalled a prediction made by Fidel Castro in his three-hour speech on the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, delivered on 4 April 1999 at the University of Havana, namely that from that moment onward, the modern conduct of warfare would undergo a lasting transformation.

The interlocutors also referred to Cuba’s recent participation in the 47th International Tourism Fair in Belgrade.
Kozarev expressed his gratitude for the principled position of the friendly country with regard to the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.
