Dacic: Situation in Kosovo and Metohija to be discussed with senior U.S. officials

01. Feb 2023.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic said today in Washington, D.C., where he will attend the National Prayer Breakfast, that this event was a good opportunity to hold a number of other bilateral meetings.

Dacic said that it would be good if the Serbian delegation spoke with members of the U.S. Congress and State Department officials, whose representatives were recently in Belgrade, about the developments in Kosovo and Metohija.

"We have agreed that I first meet with (senior policy advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State) Derek Chollet and then with (special envoy of the State Department for the Western Balkans) Gabriel Escobar, as well as with representatives of the Serbian Causus, some of whom are Congress members", Dacic said and added that he knew some of them from before.

"I believe that it is important to speak with them to inform them of the situation in the region as their political assessments are based on some prejudices based on false facts that existed in the public about ten, twenty or thirty years ago", the Serbian Foreign Minister added.

Dacic said that he would also have meetings with Jewish organizations that had a significant presence on the international scene, as well as with party institutes of U.S. Democratic and Republican parties, and also announced a reception at the Serbian Embassy in the United States.
