29. Jun 2022.
Tourist organisations of Serbia, Belgrade, Vojvodina and Vrnjačka Banja, in cooperation with travel agencies from Serbia, organised the promotion of the tourist offer of Belgrade, Vojvodina and other parts of Serbia in Tel Aviv.

The event was opened with a welcoming address by the chargé d'affaires of the Republic of Serbia in Israel, Mr. Dušan Vujović, and the Minister of Tourism of Israel, Mr. Yoel Razvozov, who in a warm video message emphasised the good relations with Serbia, which were especially visible through the cooperation with the office of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Israel.

Director of the representative office of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the honorary consul of the Republic of Serbia in Israel, Mr. Aleksandar Nikolić, welcomed the guests, and the gathering was also greeted by the member of the Knesset and the president of the parliamentary friendship group with Serbia, Mr. Boaz Toporovsky, and head of the Balkans Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Mr. Dan Orian.

“In the period before the pandemic, Israeli guests occupied a high place on the list of the most numerous guests in Belgrade, and in 2018, they also ranked first in the number of overnight stays. We want not only to reach those numbers again, but also to increase them in the coming period, since Belgrade and Serbia have a lot to offer”, pointed out Ms. Jelena Stanković from the Tourist Organisation of Belgrade and presented tourist attractions, offers for city holidays, Belgrade hotels, restaurants, museums, picnic areas, as well as Jewish heritage in our city and numerous points of interest for tourists from Israel.

Natural beauty of our country, Uvac, Tara, other Serbian cities, spas, opportunities for relaxation and active vacation, was presented by Ms. Olga Stojanović from the Tourist Organisation of Serbia and she invited those present to visit and experience Serbia as soon as possible.

The culture, history and economy of Vojvodina were presented by Mr. Branislav Mamić, secretary of the Association of Services of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina. In the presentation of Vojvodina, great attention was drawn to the Jewish heritage of Novi Sad and Subotica, as well as the offer of Fruška Gora and granges.

Kopaonik region, Vrnjačka Banja, opportunities for spa tourism and staying in this part of Serbia were presented by Mr. Ivan Trifunović, director of the Tourist Organisation of Vrnjačka Banja.

Vibrant energy of Belgrade, the “largest open-air museum” above the confluence of the Sava and the Danube, delicious meals in the picturesque atmosphere of the bohemian Skadarlija, the beauty of our country, but also the important cultural and historical ties between the two nations were the backbone for presenting opportunities for Israeli tourists to travel to Belgrade, at a presentation in Tel Aviv that was followed with great attention by more than a hundred Israeli tour operators, travel agencies and media representatives.

Special interest was attracted by the fact that Belgrade is the only city with a Theodor Herzl street, that his grandfather Simon Herzl was buried in Zemun, and that Reuven Rivlin, the first Israeli president who visited Serbia, attended the unveiling of the street's name.

The great interest in travelling to our country was confirmed by the re-establishment of direct air lines between Tel Aviv and Belgrade after almost a three-year break due to travel closures, which is why the Tourist Organisation of Belgrade gathered under its auspices the tourist organisations of Serbia, Vojvodina, Vrnjačka Banja, and the Kopaonik region, and in an exclusive area in the Saron area, in Tel Aviv, in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, organised a promotional and business event intended for the tourism industry of Israel, which was attended by some of the most important companies such as Issta, Eshet Tours, Arkia Airline, Ofakim, Flying Carpet and many others.

Thanks to the renowned guides Michelin Guidе and Gault & Millau, Belgrade has become a destination of top gastronomy, and it is also profiled as a city of numerous festivals and urban culture.
