Sofia: Ambassador Jović visiting Smolyan

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Bulgaria Željko Jović visited the district of Smolyan, as part of his visit to the Rhodope region, and met with Mayor of the Municipality of Smolyan Nikolay Melemov.
Melemov introduced the Ambassador to the city history, demographic structure and potential for further development. The Municipality of Smolyan, located about fifty km from the Greek border, is primarily the administrative centre of the district and its development policy is notably based on the tourist potential. Pamporovo, one of the three most famous ski centres in Bulgaria, partly belongs to this municipality and in addition to skiing, tourists also visit this area for its specific climate, exceptional natural beauties and diverse and healthy food.
The Mayor of the Municipality expressed his firm determination to establish a more concrete cooperation with one of the Serbian municipalities similar in structure and development plans.
