Munich: “Vuk and the Germans” exhibition opened in the Bavarian State Library

01. Jul 2022.
Today in the Bavarian State Library in Munich, one of the most important cultural and educational institutions in Germany, the exhibition “Vuk and the Germans” has been opened, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Berlin.

The exhibition, which has been organised by Vuk's Foundation in Belgrade at the initiative of Ambassador Ms. Snežana Janković, is a kind of testimony to Vuk Stefanović Karadžić's collaboration with famous Germans such as Goethe, Schiller, the Brothers Grimm and others, as well as to the time he spent in Germany almost 200 years ago.

The exhibition takes place live (announcement at: https://www.bsb-muenchen.de/veranstaltungen-und-ausstellungen/ausstellu…" \t "_blank), and in digital format, and will last until 30 December 2022.

This is the first display of the exhibition “Vuk and the Germans”, which, in addition to the Bavarian State Library, will also be a guest at other university and cultural centers throughout Germany.

It is also the first in a series of activities that the Embassy plans to organise towards the 140th anniversary of the signing of the Consular and Trade Convention and the establishment of relations between the Kingdom of Serbia and the German Empire, whereby the central manifestation, along with the exhibition of archival documents from that era, should take place at the end of this year or the beginning of next year, while this significant jubilee would be celebrated throughout 2023.
