Bialystok: Opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Serbia

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs Vera Vukićević and Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Poland Nebojša Košutić attended the ceremonial opening of the Consulate of Serbia in Bialystok, headed by Honorary Consul Jaroslav Antihovič.

The opening of the Consulate took place as a part of the traditional celebration of Vidovdan (Saint Vitus Day), which the Polish Orthodox Church has been celebrating in Bialystok for 15 years.

The formal ceremony and reception organised on the occasion of this significant event for Serbia in Poland, were attended by numerous dignitaries from Poland and Serbia.

The ceremony was attended by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Henrik Litvin, the President of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, Duke Bohdan Pazkowski, and the Deputy Mayor of Bialystok, Adam Musiuk, who also addressed the audience. Among those present were the representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the elder of the Cathedral Church from Belgrade Archpriest-Stavrophor Petar Lukić, the representative of the Polish Orthodox Church, the Archbishop of Bialystok and Bishop Jakub of Gdańsk, as well as the priest Michal Chikwin from the Evangelical Church of St. John the Baptist in Bialystok.

The opening was followed by the performance of the "Varslavia" Warsaw Music Academy choir conducted by Miloš Bogić, which, in addition to performing the Serbian and Polish national anthems, held a short concert, singing several Serbian folk songs to the audience.
