Political relations

The relations between Serbia and Venezuela are characterised by long-term cooperation based on the principles of mutual consideration, respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states and international law. There are opportunities for cooperation in the field of agriculture, processing industry, energy, education, and tourism.
Minister of Foreign Affairs (Minister of the People’s Power for Foreign Affairs) of Venezuela F. Plasencia paid an official visit to Serbia on October 12, 2021, during which he had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia N. Selakovic.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs (Minister of the People’s Power for Foreign Affairs) Jorge Arreaza visited Serbia on 16 and 17 March 2019.

 

Economic relations

During 2020, 516 thousand euros worth of export and 58 thousand euros of import were registered. Trade in goods during 2019 amounted to 88 thousand euros, with export amounting to 55 thousand euros and import to 33 thousand euros.

 

Bilateral agreements

  • Basic agreement on cultural exchange, scientific and technical cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia and the Government of the Republic of Venezuela, signed on 8 July 1977 (The Official Gazette of SFRY, International Agreements, No. 3/79);
  • Trade Agreement between the FEC of SFRY and the Government of the Republic of Venezuela, signed on 10 June 1988 (The Official Gazette of SFRY, International Agreements, No. 2/89);
  • Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of political consultation mechanisms between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of the People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, signed on 7 July 2010;
  • Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on eliminating visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, signed on 6 June 2011 (The Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia - International Agreements No. 8/11).
  • Memorandum of Understanding Between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture was signed on October 12, 2021 in Belgrade
