Political relations
Bilateral political relations are good, and there is scope for their further advancement in line with mutual interests and available potential. Political dialogue is not yet sufficiently intensive, while contacts are maintained, inter alia, through meetings on the margins of international gatherings and multilateral forums. Strengthening political dialogue, intensifying high-level contacts and developing regular exchanges of views on issues of mutual interest are important prerequisites for further improving bilateral relations and making fuller use of the potential for cooperation.
On 2 September, on the margins of the Commemorative Meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Belgrade, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met with Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), who headed the Saudi delegation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić visited Riyadh, KSA, to attend the 9th Future Investment Initiative Conference, held from 27 to 30 October 2025.
The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the KSA, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, from 4 to 5 October 2022 was described as historic, as it was the first bilateral visit by a Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs to Serbia.
Economic relations
Bilateral economic cooperation has been on the rise since 2018.
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the total trade exchange with Saudi Arabia in 2025 amounted to €107.2 million, of which €51.1 million referred to exports from the Republic of Serbia and €56.1 million to imports.
Bilateral agreements
Eight agreements are in force:
1. Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Serbia and Saudi Arabia (2013);
2. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (2017);
3. Memorandum of Cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute of Diplomatic Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2022);
4. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Sport of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Cooperation in the Field of Sports (2023);
5. Loan Agreement between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Republic of Serbia for the Irrigation Infrastructure Enhancement Project in Various Areas (2024);
6. Loan Agreement between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Republic of Serbia for the Transmission System Operator Development Project (Phase I) (2024);
7. Loan Agreement between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Republic of Serbia for the Construction of the BIO4 Campus in Belgrade;
8. Air Transport Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2025).
