Political relations

Serbia and Malta have a long tradition of good relations, without open issues. The former Minister of Foreign Affairs E. Bartolo attended 21. Belgrade economic forum on 4. and 5. October 2021. and had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs N. Selakovic on 4. October 2021. The political dialogue was enhanced by the visit of the Prime Minister of Malta J. Muscat to Serbia and his meeting with the then Prime Minister A. Vučić on 9 January 2016.

Economic relations

According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the total trade exchange with Malta in 2025 amounted to €14.8 million, of which €6.7 million referred to exports from the Republic of Serbia and €8.1 million to imports.

Bilateral agreements

Memorandum of Understanding on joint cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies of the University of Malta, signed on: 25 September 2019,

Protocol between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Malta on the implementation of the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the European Community on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation, signed on: 2 July 2010,

Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Malta on the avoidance of double taxation in relation to income taxes, signed on: 9 September 2009.
