Political relations

Bilateral relations between Serbia and the Holy See have been qualitatively improved by the visit of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić who paid an official visit to the Vatican, on 12 September 2019. On that occasion, President Vučić had an audience with Pope Francis and a conversation with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Peter Parolin.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selaković, paid an official visit to the Vatican on 18 and 19 October 2021, and had separate bilateral meetings with the State Secretary, Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia in the period from 20 to 23 November 2021.
