The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali. The two ministers discussed issues of bilateral interest, as well as current geopolitical topics.

Minister Đurić expressed his gratitude for Somalia’s support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, while at the same time reaffirming Serbia’s full respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia.

The Serbian Foreign Minister underlined that Serbia is proud of its traditionally good relations and decades-long friendship with Somalia and emphasized that our country is firmly committed to the further development and deepening of overall relations with this African partner—particularly in the fields of economy, agriculture, construction, and education, as well as within international multilateral fora. Both sides underscored the necessity of respecting international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, without creating dangerous precedents.

Minister Đurić also briefed his counterpart on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, highlighting its exceptional importance for the Serbian people—not only in territorial terms, but also from historical, statehood, religious, economic, and political perspectives—as well as the broader geopolitical implications for international relations.

“Serbia pursues an independent foreign policy, which is also based on the principles of military neutrality. This entails nurturing relations and cooperation with all relevant geopolitical, military, and economic partners worldwide,” Minister Đurić stressed, adding that while conducting such a policy in the current international environment is not easy, it is the only correct course and in the best interest of the Republic of Serbia.
