Đurić Confers with the President of the UN Security Council in New York

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met, ahead of the session of the United Nations Security Council dedicated to the work of United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, with the President of the Security Council and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations, Ambassador Jamal Alrowaiei.

Minister Đurić wished his interlocutor a successful mandate during Bahrain’s presidency of the Security Council in the current month, expressing appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for recognizing the importance of the continued consideration of the issue of Kosovo and Metohija within this body.

As he underlined, it is of essential importance for the Republic of Serbia that the UN Security Council and the broader international community be regularly and transparently informed about the situation on the ground, as well as about the political and security developments.

Đurić emphasized that regular open sessions of the UN Security Council represent an important opportunity for a comprehensive consideration of the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the activities of UNMIK, and other international presences on the ground.

The interlocutors also reviewed key topics from the bilateral agenda, as well as current geopolitical issues. In this context, as a further confirmation of the good bilateral relations between the two countries, they also referred to the recent telephone conversation between Minister Đurić and Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, during which Serbia expressed its solidarity with Bahrain in these challenging times.
