Political consultations with Vietnam
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was led by State Secretary Damjan Jović, while the Vietnamese delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Le Thi Thu Hang.
During the meeting, both officials expressed satisfaction with the traditional friendship between the two countries, which will mark 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2027, and reaffirmed their mutual interest in further enhancing political dialogue and overall cooperation.
Jović conveyed Serbia’s gratitude for the principled position of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, and provided a detailed briefing on the current situation in the southern Serbian province.
Serbia also expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s unwavering support for Serbia’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Special emphasis was placed on exploring opportunities to enhance economic cooperation and to further strengthen the bilateral legal framework. State Secretary Jović highlighted the importance of the upcoming international EXPO 2027 exhibition to be held in Belgrade.
Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to reopening their respective embassies in Belgrade and Hanoi in the near future.
